About Abigail (she/her/hers)
BPsychSc, MCAT, AThR, ACA
Hello! I’m Abigail (or Abi). I am a dedicated Creative Arts Therapist with a passion for supporting people of all ages to find meaning and connection through the use of creative mediums, including dance, music and art. With a rich background in aged care, disability support, and experience working with children and teenagers, I bring nearly 2 years’ professional experience as a Creative Arts Therapist in both individual and group facilitation settings.
As a lifelong artist involved in dance, drama, ceramics and painting, I bring a range of creative skills to my practice, alongside experience as a dance educator and choreographer. I hold a Bachelor of Psychological Science and a Master of Creative Arts Therapy, and am registered with the Australian and New Zealand Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
My approach is deeply rooted in strengths-based methodologies, emphasizing the mind-body connection and taking a holistic view of individuals and their unique experiences. I believe in the transformative power of creative expression and integrate techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and trauma-sensitive practices to foster healing and growth.
My journey is driven by a genuine enthusiasm for helping others discover their inner strengths and resilience. Whether guiding therapeutic sessions or leading workshops, I strive to create a space where each person feels heard, valued, and empowered to take the next step on their unique path.
I am looking forward to embarking on this journey together, exploring new possibilities in your life through creativity.
Acknowledgement of Country
I acknowledge the land I practice on is the traditional land of the Kaurna people. I respect and acknowledge that creative arts have been used by First Nations people for connection, expression and wellbeing long before colonisation. Always was, always will be.
